Luka Modrić captained Croatia to a 5-1 demolition of the Czech Republic in their second World Cup 2026 qualifier, played at the Opus Arena in Osijek.
Kramarić made it 1-0 in the first half, before Soucek levelled after the break. Shortly afterwards, Modrić, who played 81 minutes, put Croatia back in front from the penalty spot. Perišić made it 3-1, Budimir struck the fourth, and the Real Madrid midfielder then set up Kramarić to hit the fifth and decisive goal for his nation.
"I'm really looking forward to starting now, to face a season that is going to be brilliant for everyone and with some incredible challenges ahead of us," he said in his first press conference as a Madrid player.
